Cannon Cares, Inc. was born from love, caregiving, and a deeply personal journey.

Founder and CEO, Khara Cannon Chike, became the primary caregiver for her late father, Vernon Raphael Cannon, while also raising and caring for her own young children. Like so many family caregivers, Khara found herself balancing the needs of the people she loved while trying to navigate the emotional, physical, and practical demands of caregiving.

Throughout her journey, she often found herself without the resources, guidance, and support she needed. Much of what she learned about caregiving came through personal experience, advocacy, research, and trial and error. Although caring for her father brought many challenges, it also brought meaningful moments of love, connection, and purpose that would ultimately shape the mission of Cannon Cares.

After her father's passing, Khara knew that his story—and everything she had learned while caring for him—could become a source of hope and support for other families. Cannon Cares, Inc. was created in his honor and from a heartfelt desire to ensure that family caregivers feel seen, supported, informed, and cared for throughout their own caregiving journeys.

Today, Cannon Cares supports and empowers family caregivers through compassionate respite care services, family caregiver support groups, educational workshops, caregiving resources, and financial assistance for respite care. Whether a caregiver needs a few hours to rest, a supportive community that understands, helpful information and resources, or assistance accessing respite care, Cannon Cares is here to help lighten the load.

Cannon Cares, Inc. is a Maryland State-licensed Home Health Care Service/Residential Service Agency (RSA) committed to providing compassionate, dependable respite care services in accordance with the standards and requirements established by the Maryland Department of Health.

Our purpose at Cannon Cares, Inc. is to enrich the lives of family caregivers by offering vital resources, services, support, advocacy, and guidance. We aim to alleviate the challenges of caregiving through compassionate respite services, financial assistance, support groups, and informational workshops, helping caregivers maintain their own well-being while providing exceptional care for their loved ones.

Our Core Values

Cannon Cares, Inc. is a Maryland-based home care and family support company dedicated to supporting family caregivers. We provide non-medical respite care services that allow caregivers time to rest, work, and manage personal needs while ensuring their loved ones receive safe, compassionate support. In addition to respite care, Cannon Cares, Inc. offers caregiver support groups, educational workshops, access to caregiving resources, and limited financial assistance to help families navigate the physical, emotional, and financial challenges of caregiving. Our services are designed to strengthen caregivers, promote stability in the home, and improve overall quality of life for families.
